Guilin is a city in the North Guangxi province of China – one of the most well-known tourist destinations of the country. This city is within short distance from a number of beautiful and scenic places, including the Lijiang River, the beautiful rice terraces of Longsheng and several stunning karst mountains.
This region is separated from central China by the Nan Mountains and it has always been distinct from the rest of the country. It is a unique and fascinating place – certainly worth a visit.
Why Travel to Guilin
One of the most picturesque regions in China, there are a number of reasons to visit Guilin. Of course, the main attraction is the beautiful surroundings. The dramatic karst mountains, the bright green hills, the peaceful rivers, the sharp rocks and the mysterious caves will make you feel like you have stepped into a classical Chinese watercolour painting.
Of course, another reason is the history of the city and as well as the peaceful character of the surrounding countryside – with friendly farmers waving to you from lush rice fields. You will fall in love with the atmospheric scenery of this beautiful region – perfect for taking gorgeous photos especially at sunset and sunrise.
Enjoying the Natural Scenery in Guilin
If you want to get up close and personal with the natural landscapes of Guilin, why not consider taking a river ride along the Li River, which is an iconic symbol within the natural landscape of China? When you float slowly down the river, you will drift past bamboo groves, water buffalo walking through the fields, farmers working on the paddies and children swimming in the waters.
During your visit, be sure to also take a trip into the Seven Star Cave and the Reed Flute Cave. This mysterious underground wonderland is filled with beautiful stalactites and it is an unforgettable experience.
While you are in Guilin, you can also visit the Dragon’s Backbone Rice Terraces – which is located within LongSheng County. These spectacular rice terraces are wonderfully vibrant and green and when you visit, you can also check out the Zhuang Village of Ping’An.
Another popular attraction is Diecai Hill, which is famous for its stone caving and beautiful scenery. It has some easy trails for intermediate climbers, which means that anyone can get out and go exploring.
